OD 5.21.2001 (6.18.2004) [4:52 p.m.]

OK, we already got through a lot of it, but here's a quick rehash:

You get 15 Freebies and 30 XPs with which to make your char.

Attributes are 5F or currentx4 XP each

Abilities are 2F or currentx2 XP (3XP for a new one) each

Backgrounds are 1F and usually can't be bought by XP

Gifts are 7F and currentx3 XP for your breed, auspice and tribe; currentx5 otherwise

Rage is 1F or current XP

Gnosis is 2F or currentx2 XP

Willpower is 1F or current XP

Here goes...

Name - duh

Player - duh

Chronicle - duh

Breed: Homid (1 Gnosis), Metis (3 Gnosis) or Lupus (5 Gnosis)

Auspice: Ragabash (Trickster, 1 Rage), Theurge (Priest, 2 Rage), Philodox (Balancer, 3 Rage), Galliard (Poet, 4 Rage), Ahroun (Warrior, 5 Rage)

Pack Name: Yet to decide

Pack Totem: Shark (gives +1 str, +2 stealth, +2 bite damage)

ATTRIBUTES: Self Explanatory

ABILITIES: New Ones -

Primal Urge: how connected you are with your wolf side. Assists in shifting.

Rituals: can only learn rituals up to the level equaling the # of dots you have here. Must pay for each ritual separately, under Rites.

BACKGROUNDS: New Ones -

Ancestors: your connection to your ancestors' spirits. Can roll # of dice equaling ancestor rating once per STORY (not scene) vs diff 8 to add 1 die per success to dice pool of any ability, even if your char doesn't have that ability. The rest of the time, you can probably still talk to them, but you can't add dots.

Fetish: little mystical trinkets that assist you. They always have spirits bound inside. Klaives, though great big silver knives, for example, are level 4 fetishes. You need to pay 1 dot per level.

Kinfolk: the number of kinfolk you know. 1 dot = 2, 2 = 5, 3 = 10, 4 = 20, 5 = 50. Kinfolk are immune to Delirium.

Pure Breed: how purely your line runs (because you get to choose what tribe you belong to, but if you and all your ancestors have chosen Silver Fangs, for example, and mated with no one but Silver Fang kin, your PB will be 5 for Silver Fangs. But if you choose then to become a Child of Gaia, then your PB is 0 for CoG, but 5 for Silver Fangs still). It also measures how many of your ancestors were heros. You get to add as many dice as you have dots here in Social and challenge rolls involving other Garou (even Ronin and BSDs) - pure blood can literally be FELT, and impresses folks.

Rites: For every point, you can buy 1 pt of rites. Some rites are only worth 1 point (the level 1 rites); other are worth 2 (level 2 rites), 3 or more. Being a Philodox, I suggest you take some of the following rites:

Rite of Cleansing (cleanse Wyrm taint to some degree): level 1

Rite of Talisman Dedication (bind objects to your body so they stay even when you shift) - this one's always useful, but if you don't have it the Theurge most likely will: level 1

Rite of Ostracism, Stone of Scorn and Voice of Jackal: all level 2 punishment rites. The first one ostracizes someone else from sept, tribe and even pack sometimes; Stone of Scorn basically scorns someone and causes them to lose renown; Voice of the Jackal makes their voice really squeaky and it's an embarrassment. Basically, all of these are done usually during moots to punish those who break the Litany (the Garou Law)

Rite of Accomplishment: Level 2 - turns temporary renown into permanent renown. Whenever you gather up 10 pts of temp renown, you can ask someone else to do this for you. If you know it, people might as you, and if you're really evil, you can make it a favor you do them or something.

Totem: Try to put 2-3 dots in this one. We all pool our Totem backgrounds to buy Shark (6 dots, base) and whatever extra abilities he might have.

GIFTS

This is the fun part. Heh. This is where you get to pick your powers. You start off with three level 1 gifts - one from your Breed (homid), one from your Auspice (philodox), and one from your tribe (Shadow Lord). You can exchange then for 3XPs each, and you can buy level 2 gifts at 6XPs each.

Homid Gifts:

Level 1

Master of Fire - treat fire damage as bashing, not agg. No roll, always on.

Persuasion - just that. Charisma+Subterfuge vs diff 6; if successful, subsequent social rolls at -1 diff.

Smell of Man - you scare off wild animals and domestic animals love you. Always on.

Level 2

Jam Technology - Makes human technology quit working. Manipulation + Crafts vs diff 4 to 10, depending on technology you want to jam. A computer is 4, a phone is 6, a car is 8, a gun is 9, and a knife is 10.

Staredown - you stare, they run. If they're Garou, they freeze in place. Charisma + Intimidation vs diff 5 + victim's rank (or WP, if not garou, I suppose)

Philodox Gifts:

Level 1

Resist Pain - you can ignore wound penalties for the rest of the scene. Takes 1 WP.

Scent of True Form - Can automatically tell if someone is werewolf. Otherwise, Percep + Primal-Urge vs diff 6 can tell you if someone is another supernatural. It takes 2 successes for vampires, faeries and other shapeshifters; 4 for mages and fomori.

Truth of Gaia - can tell if someone is lying. Intelligence + Empathy vs subject's Manipulation + Subterfuge.

Level 2

Call to Duty - If you know a spirit by name, you can summon and command them. Only one command is possible at a time, and the spirit departs after fulfilling the one request. Usually you need a Theurge to name the spirit for you, or you need to personally know the spirit. Charisma + Leadership vs spirit's WP (so commanding the Wyrm is impossible, cuz its WP is like 500).

King of Beasts - you can command any animal within 100 ft. Charisma + Animal Ken vs 3 if it's a sibling (lupus kinfolk); 6 if you've fed and cared for it; 8 if it's a strange animal; 10 if it's hostile.

Strength of Purpose - roll Stamina + Rituals, diff 7. For every success, you get one point of WP back.

Shadow Lord Gifts:

Level One

Aura of Confidence - no one can read your aura or flaws correctly; you seem invincible. However, they can still read your thoughts. Charisma + Subterfuge vs diff 7 to activate; lasts for a scene.

Fatal Flaw - you can detect someone else's flaws. Percep + Empathy vs target's wits + subterfuge; if successful, you get an extra die of damage in combat.

Seizing the Edge - always on. If you and someone else ties in something, you'll always win.

Level Two

Clap of Thunder - spend Gnosis point, smash palms together, make clap of thunder, stun everyone (friend or foe) within 10 feet unless they succeed in a WP roll vs diff 8 and be unable to act for a turn. If they botch, they can't act for a scene.

Luna's Armor - roll base stamina + survival vs diff 7, and for every success, you get an extra die of soak. This soaks even silver (which otherwise werewolves cannot soak, except in breed form).

RENOWN

Fostern (rank 2, which is what we're all gonna try to be) Philodoxes start with 1 glory, 4 honor, and 1 wisdom. As you play this will go up or (hopefully not!) down. When you get up to 2 glory, 6 honor and 2 wisdom, you can become an Adren (rank 3). Just FYI, rank 1 = cliath, rank 2 = fostern, rank 3 = adren, rank 4 = athro, and rank 5 = elder. We have nothing over rank 3 right now.

RAGE

You can spend 1 rage to instantly change forms; otherwise, it takes 1 turn. You can also use it to ignore a stun, which is when someone hits you so hard they damage you more than you have stamina, and you're stunned for the next turn. If you get killed, you can roll your rage one last time vs diff 8; each success heals a damage level. Of course, if they hit you for like 18 damage, it won't do you much good because you'll need to heal 11 damage just to get to incapacitated. If your Rage exceeds your WP, you lose 1 die in social interactions for every point Rage exceeds WP by. You can use rage for extra actions, 1 extra action per point used, but you can only use half of your permanent rage (rounded up) per turn for this. And finally, on any rage roll, if you get more than 4 successes, you frenzy. Philodoxes start with Rage 3.

WP

Use it for assured successes, etc etc...same as always. Shadow Lords start with WP 3.

Gnosis

Use it to power fetishes, some gifts, etc. Cannot use Gnosis in the same turn you use Rage. Homids start with Gnosis 1.

...whew! quite a list. But there you have it, more or less. If you have other questions, lemme know.

Damon
